Caring For Your
New Puppy
1. Health Check
Making an appointment for a health examination with your veterinarian as soon as possible is crucial. This gives your puppy’s doctor or nurse an opportunity to inspect him. In addition to providing advice on how to acclimate your puppy and being accessible to answer any questions you may have, they will ensure the health of your new pet.
2. Pet Insurance
We strongly encourage you to obtain pet insurance as soon as possible, even though Ann Globalspaws does not currently offer it. The benefit of getting pet insurance early on is that you will be protected in the event that issues arise up front.
3. Vaccinations
At birth, most puppies will have received their first vaccination. If you don’t already have the details of their first vaccination, ask your breeder; you’ll need to provide them to your veterinarian.
4. Microchipping
Getting your new puppy microchipped as soon as possible is not only required by law, but it’s also a smart idea. It suggests that if your dog did disappear, your odds of being reunited would be significantly higher.
5. Socialisation
As soon as possible, you must start socializing your new puppy. Acclimating your puppy to this exciting new environment, including their surrounds, as well as the people, places, sights, and sounds they will come into contact with on a regular basis, is the aim of socialization. Until the puppy is sixteen weeks old, the window of possibility remains open. Given that most people bring their pups home shortly after they are eight weeks old, it’s easy to see why it’s so important to know what you need to do and get started as soon as possible.
6. Defleaing and worming
A common misconception is that parasite protection for pets is only required in the summer. It’s not the case. Despite the fact that fleas are more active in the summer, overall parasite protection is essential throughout the year. Regular worming is crucial from a young age since many pups will be born with worms that were passed down from their mother. We need to get rid of these as soon as possible.
